This is a short story told from Zeens perspective about his graduation day and not being chosen for the testing. I gave it 3 stars because I felt it could have been longer and been given more depth.

I want to start off saying, that just because I gave this a low review rating doesn't mean this book is bad. Let me explain, I really enjoyed The Testing, which I read a few months ago, and I thought hey maybe this book will give me more insight or add to the story. On the plus side this e-book is free, you don't 'waste your money' by getting it, so don't let cost hold you back. The reason that I rated this book two stars was disappointment, I thought this was going to be a short story that led us into the series, or something to that effect, and it does...kind of. It isn't even a short, it's a few pages with the rest of the book being excerpts and advertisements. We kind of get insight into Zeen, Cia's older brother, and we get to see the determination that Cia has to be chosen, kind of. This really doesn't add to the story at all and I guess after the enjoyment of the actual book I was expecting something more.

What I'm guessing is just a peek into the world that I'm about to learn about in The Testing. I actually hopped on GR to show someone the series I was about to read and learned about this little novella. So I clicked the link and got it for my Nook. We learn about who I've learned is the main character of the series' big brother and what happened at his graduation and shortly after. We also get to see what his relationship with his sister was like. Only a bit though because the novella really was just a little sample of what was to come. I'm anxious to see how The Testing goes now that I've had this little taste.

Excellent Storybook Bible

My wife and I read this book to our son and daughter. It really is an excellent storybook bible. The illustrations are quite good. But, I believe the real strength of this book to be that it is constantly pointing to Jesus. Scripture points to Jesus and this storybook Bible shows how Scripture points to Jesus in a way that is very understandable for children. I loved it.

I love reading this book to my little one

I love reading this book to my little one! It summarizes a great majority of the bible stories beautifully in a manner that children can understand. The pictures are colorful and intriguing, allowing my little one's hands to wander all over the pages while I read. I also love how it reinforces God's love and promise to us in every story that we read. My little one likes the book though I am sure he will come to love it more as stories become a little bit more applicable. For now it serves as a great way to introduce my little one to Jesus through short snippets before bed!!

No Gimmicks Here

This is the very best of the many, many, many weight loss books I have downloaded onto my Kindle. I did get it free. After reading it and finding it motivational without being in any way "gimicky," I recommended it to all my friends who might be struggling with weight issues. My friends and I are formerly fit baby boomers who need a gentle (or maybe just swift) kick in the butt to get us going. JP Latham's book provides that. I agree with him that we first have tackle our own resistance.

Couldn't Put This Down!

I have read many many How To Get Fit books and I have to say I really got into this one. It is an easy read, I LOVED that I could download it on my Kindle and it had great adaptable suggestions. It is informative and easy to understand. I loved his whole chapter on accountability. We all have it in us to succeed however we have to have the discipline and RIGHT actions to achieve our goals. Thank you John!

Lucky was in the right place at the right time, Zane was a bad boy with a heart he didn't want to give away. He didn't want to give his heart to Lucky but he didn't anyone else to have her either... It's a great read can't wait until the sequel comes out in June.

Different kind of love story

As women, we all have romantic tendencies and wish for that perfect man to come along and sweep us off of our feet. Lucky has that same notion, but is starting to realize that her checklist might not ever be possible in a man. In walks in Zane to her diner every Friday night with a different girl on his arm. What starts off as innocent looks and flirting turns into an all-out crush by Lucky, but she knows a man like Zane will break her heart. Zane takes Lucky to Los Angeles in hopes to start a documentary, but sparks fly and there is no turning back? Will Zane finally be the man that fits Lucky's list or will he break her heart and she becomes one of his long list of dates? I love this book because it does not start as the love stories we all know. With its twist and turns, you don't really know what is coming and I loved that!

Fabulous Read, wonderful characters

I really loved this book! I loved the characters from the beginning and I knew that Zane was more than the "bad boy" persona that he tries to live up to. I loved Lucky as well. She wasn't the typical flighty girl--she had substance and depth and one could see how much Zane wanted to be with her. Best part was the HEA and the need for the next book! Brava JS Cooper!

Troubleshooting Windows 7 Inside Out

Whatever happened to good editing?

I got this book (and a couple of others) to be at my side as I installed Win 7. So far it's the one I've used the least, not only because I find more meat in the other ones I've used (see below for what else I referenced), but mainly because the index is all screwed up.

EXAMPLE: I look for PAGE, PAGING, not found. I look for VIRTUAL MEMORY, I find that, and choose to head for the 'settings 389' ref. Well page 389 is all about screenshots for DATA COLLECTOR SETS. I can't say where 'settings' is, because I gave up and went to another book. You know, when dealing with learning a new OS, relating the new to the old, being stumped by stuff, there are lots of brain cells firing. A helpful book should be ready with its answers, not bent on throwing another toe stubber at its audience.

Some may say that is a minor irritant, but if I've already got an irritant, courtesy of Windows 7, do I need another one from the help!?

Think about the mental parallel that may be drawn here (consciously or not): O'Reilly published this with the authorization of MS and the latter's name is plastered all over the book. Is this a subtle message about the OS, i.e. 'yeah, it's mostly good, just a slight bit off base'.

I still plan to read the book more thoroughly. If I have anything to say that may be in any way useful, I'll return with more impressions. Hope this adds perspective to others' search for a reference book.

Other books I used: WINDOWS 7 ANNOYANCES - helpful, but not a stand alone for me.

WINDOWS 7 the definitive guide - yeah..., it's ok. Sometimes the 'do it this way' directions, seemed a little muddy, on the whole, I don't think it deserves the bashing it gets in some of the reviews on its page.

WINDOWS 7 the missing manual - good support for 'Annoyances'. More reading necessary to rate.

After all is said and done, I am grateful for all the info people put into these books. I plan to spend lots of time with each one as I get to know W7 more.
If one is willing to read, research, experiment, there is still plenty to get out of these books.

OK I need to confess. I was going to give this a 5 star rating then my competitive streak cut in. I'm in the same game as the pros who wrote these various pieces - it's not one author and I forget how many there are. One thing they seem to have in common is the belief in SMS marketing and that's where my missing star went. In fairness, they don't really make the claim that I am punishing them for, so I am being harsh. It's just that I get the impression they wouldn't share my contention about push marketing with SMS. I hate it as a consumer and I warn about it as a consultant. SMS is great for keeping in touch with customers with whom you have an implied permission - it's a service to remind a dental client about an upcoming appointment. In my opinion it's not OK to upsell that same client via SMS.

OK, I accept that I am unfairly picky. I particularly DID like a great point made by Alex Barros who likes to check his own clients' commitment to making /their/ customers happy; I think that is a great point.

Dr. Lory Moore also impressed me with her observation that a smaller company willing to get up close and personal with their customers to give them high-value is a company that will run rings around a large corporation competing in the same market. That has long been the case but it is really valuable to point out.

This is an excellent book for its contents and for giving a prospective customer a way to check out some of the best available experts in the field. You can make up your mind not just on the content of their expertise but also on the style of their presentations - just ignore my nit picking.

Was not overly as helpful as I hoped. A little dry and information pretty general. Not as good as others in same category.
