Rachael is the bestselling children's book author of the 12 Days of Christmas, Christmas Dogs and Christmas Cats. She is a busy Mom with two daughters ages 6 and 1 years old. I have a granddaughter who is turning 4 in a couple of weeks so I purchased this book to share with her. She loves animals and the pictures in this book are awesome! The descriptions that go along with each of the pictures are short and to the point. Some of the phrases are repeated with different animal types which is an excellent beginning reader. I am sure my granddaughter is really going to like this book and I would highly recommend it. How timely this book is out in time for Mothers Day! What better way for Mom (or Grandma) to share time with their child than to read a beautiful book about Baby Animals and their Moms!

What can one say about a mother and child book, even one about animals? The photographs display the animals in endearing poses. There are 53 pictures arranged in alphabetical order. Some animals like the squirrel and rabbit will be familiar. Others like the meerkat and lemur are less well known. The author places the name as a large sight word and then includes a one line description for what is happening in the picture. Parents or teachers will enjoy reading it aloud. Older children will readily acquire recognition and information about the animals.
