Julia Larson doesn't like Wolf McCloud. He may be the best man her father ever hired, but he's dangerous. With her sister Josette around, Julia knows it's only a matter of time before there's another baby on the way. Josette has already had one baby out of wedlock-- a baby that Julia cares for as if it were her own. Josette is irresponsible and selfish, but the men seem to like her. Since her father refuses to acknowledge that Josette is becoming a tramp, it is up to Julia to make sure that Wolf McCloud stays away from her sister. Wolf doesn't wait for Amos Larson to fire him, he leaves on his own. But when he receives a note a short time later from the old man asking to meet him, he's puzzled. Then Amos gives him a proposition. He knows he is dying and offers Wolf a piece of land in exchange for being Julia's foreman. Wolf is a half-breed, abandoned at birth by a mother he has been searching for. The chance to own land is an offer he cannot refuse. But Amos doesn't tell him all his plans. JUST PLAIN AWESOME

This is the first book of hers that I have read and I absolutely loved it. I am definetely going to go out and find more of her books to read. The man Wolf in this book is exciting, passionate and so loving and definetely brazen with his words. If you like wild, sexy talking men then this book is for you. And of course the woman is extremely passionate and a virgin so he teaches her all the ropes. This is a must read.

Too far fetched even for romance books.

There are several things that just don't make sense with this book, the whole thing just irks me.
****SPOILERS****
1, We have a young woman who gives birth to an illegitimate child yet the father gives her permission to go gooseberry hunting alone with the young virile foreman? That wouldn't make sense even by today's standard, it would have been unheard of back then.
2. While I applaud her father and sister for not turning her out, which happened a lot back then, she was never forced to take responsibility for her actions. I do understand why the older sister took care of the baby, after all she could not force her sister to care, but that doesn't mean she should have been spoiled and coddled by her family, it was almost like rewarding her for her bad behavior. The older sister even admitted to being partially to blame but still continued to wait on her hand and foot even while she was treated like dirt by the young slut, and slut she was. Let the spoiled brat cook her own meals and do her own laundry, pampering her was not noble, just stupid.
3. As others have stated it was never made clear if the so called hero had sex with baby sister or not, he never talked with the heroine about it even though he could see it troubled her, I thought that was beyond cruel, I really don't know what she saw in him.
4. I thought it a horrible disgrace for the father to allow folks to believe that the baby belonged to the heroine instead of the slutty sister, again she was free of responsibility and suffering the consequences, it was just wrong.
5. I did not like the way the heroine allowed her sister to walk all over her and order her about, she was not doing either one of them any favors, and for the father to allow that to continue was unforgivable.
While I know there are flaws in any book, none are perfect, this one just had too many for me to enjoy. It left a bitter taste in my mouth.
