A century ago, in 1913, the world's finest golfers gathered at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, to compete in golf's national championship, the U.S. Open. Joining them was a little-known amateur, 20-year-old Francis Ouimet, who lived across the street from the course and taught himself to play by sneaking onto the fairways with the only golf club he owned. His caddie? Ten-year-old Eddie Lowery, who stood only four feet tall. Together, against their idols and in front of a crowd that grew from a handful of spectators to a horde of thousands, they attempted to pull off the impossible. Along the way, they forged a lifelong friendship. In FRANCIS AND EDDIE award-winning author Brad Herzog and award-winning illustrator Zachary Pullen celebrate golf's most inspiring underdog story. What Seabiscuit is to the "sport of kings" Francis and Eddie are to the "gentleman's game."

Review
"There are not too many golf books oriented toward children let alone excellent ones, but I have found one... The illustrations in the book are outstanding. Unusual, artistic, emotive... a keepsake book that can be passed on from generation to generation." - Golf News Magazine

Wonderful little-known story!
By Tessa M. Avila
I had never heard this tale before, and what a find! This book has a lyrical pace about it that I really enjoyed. I bought it for my sons as I think it's a great story not only about golf and sports, but also about loyalty and about doing the right thing rather than the easy thing. The illustrations are a perfect fit in style for the time period. I've loved Brad Herzog's other books, and in this one, as in others, he chooses words beautifully and knows just how to build the story to its conclusion. Highly recommend . . . great gift for Father's Day!

EPIC STORY, BEAUTIFUL BOOK
By Tony Donahoe
"The Greatest Game Ever Played" by Mark Frost was a fantastic and detailed book about the 1913 U.S. Open (and a decent movie). But given that there's a 10-year-old at the heart of the tale, a children's book about this amazing event was long overdue. And just in time for the 100th anniversary! The story is almost too incredible to believe, and the illustrations remind me of Norman Rockwell. Which is perfect, of course. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves an inspiring and touching story, whether or not you're a golf fan.

So cool!
By Jackie Singleton
"So cool!" were the words my ten-year-old used when I showed him this book. An avid golfer and a child who gets excited about golf history, was psyched when I showed him a children's book about Francis Ouimet. The release of this book is fitting with this year being the 100th anniversary of Ouimet's win at the 1913 U.S. Open Championship. The story is one that all can relate to and this children's version is beautifully written and illustrated.
