Someone wants him dead. She just wants a vacation.
From the author of the popular Coach’s Boys series comes the Casteloria Trilogy—and the first e-book is Kristy’s gift to you.
Cameron Rafferty is keeping secrets. Dangerous secrets that could endanger the lives of everyone around him. His plan was simple...keep a low profile until the would-be-killer was found. And things were going smoothly, until a small complication changed everything. Soon, he finds himself becoming more involved with the family next door—and wishing for things he shouldn't. Things that will put their lives in jeopardy, too.
Spending summers at the chalet was a tradition for author Laura Keane and her young son. Filled with memories of the husband she lost to war, she looked forward to days spent reminiscing, playing, and plotting another novel. She didn't expect this year to be any different— but that was before their handsome neighbor came to her rescue like a knight in shining armor. Will that armor be tarnished when she discovers who he is and why he's hiding out in northern Michigan?
Laying Low in Paradise, the first installment in the Casteloria Trilogy. If you like your romance novels served up with a little suspense and mystery, wholesome relationships and humor, and an interesting mix of supporting characters, you just might love Kristy K. James’ modern day fairytale.
Join Cameron and Laura as they discover that while Bois Blanc Island is the perfect place for fun-filled summer days and relaxing evenings—it might be an even better place to fall in love again. As long as the wrong people don’t find them first.

From the Author
Growing up in Michigan, some of my best memories are of trips up north. While I prefer to admire the Mackinaw Bridge from the lower peninsula (aka: The Mitton) to traveling across it, the area is one of my favorites in the state. So when the first spark of an idea for Laying Low in Paradise started to grow, I knew that's where I wanted it to take place.
At first I'd thought to use Mackinaw Island, the setting for the Christopher Reeve/Jane Seymour flick, Somewhere in Time, but changed my mind when I realized I needed the location to be a little more isolated...so I chose Bois Blanc Island instead.
And that's when the magic started to happen. I fell in love with the characters - even Finn and Nolan who, in the outline, had fairly small roles. Now it looks as though they'll each get their own books in the Casteloria series. But writing about Cameron and Laura was a pure joy, and I hope you enjoy reading their story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

A mix of heart-warming romance and terrifying suspense!

Laying Low in Paradise was a mix of heart-warming romance and terrifying suspense.
Laura Keane and her son Sam are vacationing at Bois Blanc Island, as they do every summer. An accident leads Laura right into her neighbor Cameron's arms. Once she lands there, neither of them look back. They both know they have found something special. At the same time, Cameron is at a loss with how to reach his son Brendan, who lost a leg in a car accident. To say Brendan isn't doing well would be a major understatement. To top this, Cameron has a BIG secret. This secret is so big that it involves everyone on the island with the exception of Laura and her son.
The story opens with a prologue that will keep you baffled for a couple chapters. Then you get so wrapped up in what's going on that you forget about it by the time it would actually aid in putting some of the puzzle pieces together to solve the mystery. I recommend rereading the prologue at the end.
After the prologue, the story jumps right on in with Laura and her twelve year old son, Sam. Laura and Sam have a great relationship, and I am especially fond of Sam. He reminds me so much of my oldest son. They are both the same age and have the whole mother-hen thing down to an art. Kristy James really nailed his character! You really feel the love and closeness shared between Laura and Sam.
Insert Cameron here. I loved Cameron's personality as it related to Laura. I was especially pleased that he was adament about sharing his secret with her. He had no desire to build a relationship on secrets and lies. The only thing I didn't like concerning Cameron was the lack of bond shown between him and his son. You got the sense he deeply loved his son, but it wasn't shown as it had been between Laura and Sam. I think more bonding was shown between Laura and Brendan than between Cameron and Brendan. It almost appeared as if Brendan was second to Laura sometimes. Overall, the characters were well-developed and relatable. You care about them, laugh with them, and worry with them. There was some rarely used strong language and a few steamy scenes, but no sex for those of you that like a clean romance.
The plot was very intriguing and kept you on your toes trying to figure it out. It was definitely a shocker for me when Cameron's secret came out! It wasn't anything I had thought of, and it really wrapped up the fairytale romance nicely. The only thing I didn't like was that it seemed to wrap up a little too quickly for me. I was almost finished, and I was thinking I was about to have a cliffhanger on my hands. But, no, it just ended rather abruptly.
Overall this was a very enjoyable read. There were times I laughed out loud and others I literally had goose bumps. It was a nice, clean fairytale mixed with mystery and suspense. I give it a strong 4 stars!! I will definitely be reading more from Kristy James!! I recommend this book to all of you who like a good romance!!

Laying Low In Paradise was a very good book. I enjoyed the camadarie between all of the character in the story. I also enjoyed that Ms. James showed that Cameron and Laura respected each other to wait until marriage to make love. There was no *f* language which was a big plus in me enjoying reading Laying Low In Paradise. This is a GREAT read for anyone not looking for a story with outrageous sex scenes and bad language throughout the book. Thank you Ms. James for such a great book.

~Synopsis~
Laura Keane and her son have been spending summers at their chalet on Bois Blanc Island since her husband was killed in the war. She never let anyone else in after the chaplain delivered the sad news four years ago, so it's just the two of them, and she wouldn't change that for the world.
Cameron Rafferty and his friends were keeping secrets. Dangerous secrets, and they'd hoped the little island paradise would be a safe place to hide out. The plan to keep a low profile quickly unravels when an accident changes everything. Cameron soon finds himself becoming more involved with the Keane family than he'd intended -and wishing for things he shouldn't.
~My Review~
Laura lost her husband Jake in the war. Laura's son Sam is her beautiful piece of Jake that she has left. The relationship of mother and son is protective, loving and honest.
Sam is a 12 year old boy with an old soul. He is one of the smartest young boy ever.
Every summer the family would vacation at the Chalet on Bois Blanc Island. Little does Laura and Sam know, this summer will be the most unexpected summer ever.
Laura will meet Cameron Rafferty. Laura has no idea as to why Cameron is there other than vacationing. As they get to know one another feelings develop. Even though Cameron is not supposed to be interacting with any one on the island. Cameron is so drawn to Laura and likes Sam, he just can stay away.
Cameron has big problems with his present situation. One being his son Brendan. This will come to light and Sam plays a huge role in it.
Eventually Cameron knows he will have to reveal his dangerous secret to Laura. His biggest is fear is that he will lose her. Will Laura be able to handle Cameron's secret?
I ABSOLUTELY loved this book!
I fell in love with every well written character and each ones charm.
I finished the book in a day and would of finished in hours if I wasn't so busy with my family.
Kristy had me swooning over Cameron's words to Laura. I have to say, Cameron stole my heart as well. I will be adding him to my book boyfriend list. LOL!
This is a must read!
I give this book 5 Totally Narly Moons!
